Couldn’t be happier with my son’s experience here. Professor Andrew is great with the kids and does an awesome job of making the classes both fun and challenging. He’s patient when they’re learning, but also pushes them to improve and give their best effort. Highly recommend Studio NPR!

Studio NPR BJJ is the best thing we have ever done for our son! We started him right at 4 years old and his discipline and attitude is so much better. He also enjoys coming and we have a blast. Andrew is the best coach and is so good with all the children. I can’t recommend it here enough!

Great place. Very welcoming and fantastic instuctors. My 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter have been attending for over a year and I have witnessed a gradual progression that has now resulted in two confident and focused bjj practitioners. The great staff place an emphasis on learning, focus and listening. Unlike other gyms we've been to this is not a quasi day care after school. Make no mistake there is no goofing around but kids are encouraged to focus on instruction and learn the techniques. The ratio of instructors to kids is spot on. Very safe and professional environment. The gym itself looks great and is very clean (not always the case at others). We tested out a number of gyms - some for quite a while before settling on TFI/Six Blades. The others were either too lacadaisical with kids running around/playing/talking for much of the time and not much physical contact or actual grappling. Or, some were a bit too hard core with a vibe of "fighting" and agressive parents attempting to coach and goad their kids from the sidlines leading to a stressful and chaotic environment. This place really nails the appropriate balace of safety, respect for others, physical contact, mental focus and learning, and fun for young kids! I have taken my time before leaving a review so that I could really consdier the whole picture.

In the area for a trip from Pennsylvania and decided to do a drop in class at KATA jiu jitsu and was extremely happy with my experience. I felt very welcome by all the coaches and students. Had a great time drilling the techniques shown and had alot of fun rolling with the kata crew.

I’ve trained at a LOT of different jiu-jitsu gyms, and I can confidently say that Kata is one of the best I’ve ever come across. The space itself is clean and well-maintained, the people are friendly and welcoming, and the teaching is top-notch. The style is a mix of jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and MMA, which makes it feel really unique. They also have a ton of stuff on YouTube if you want to get a sense of what I mean. The thing I appreciate most is the emphasis they put on safety, both when teaching and sparring (nobody is trying to kill you). Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to pick up some new tricks, I couldn’t recommend Kata enough.

I can call this place my second home. Every instructor is very welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. They keep the place safe and clean. The members make this place an easy place to practice techniques in a safe environment. Going to KATA is the reason I have a consistently healthy lifestyle and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to start MMA or people who already have knowledge in MMA.

The best jiu jitsu academy in Los Angeles IMO. I started here since they’ve been open and have grown tremendously in my skill set under Professor Anthony. He’s patient, methodical, and SO insightful. When this guy isn’t doing jiu jitsu or teaching it, he’s probably studying it during his break time, which shows how passionate he is at making sure his students are getting the best, most effective instruction possible. In addition to Anthony, the other owners, Coach Nate and Professor Scott, are one of the best, funniest, and most genuine people I’ve ever met! I’ve watched them establish this gym from the ground up and because of the positive energy they radiate, they’ve built the most amazing jiu jitsu community! The environment here is like no other and is filled with people who are ambitious, friendly, and incredibly amazing at what they do. A HUGE shout out to the women who train here. If you’re a girl and have been contemplating joining/trying jiu jitsu, I promise they are probably the BEST group of women to train with. Can confirm that they are the nicest and most badass girls I’ve ever met. Everyone takes care of each other here and truly embodies a safe and welcoming place no matter what level you are. Thank you for everything, KATA! PS If you’re lucky, you might get to meet the gym pup, Mochi. 10/10 fav place

I’ve had a really positive experience here so far. I’m still new to MMA, and the coaches have been welcoming, patient, and willing to help me understand the techniques instead of making me feel out of place for being a beginner. The classes are challenging, but that’s part of what I like about them—you’re learning real skills while also getting a great workout. The morning classes are also a big plus because you actually get attention and feedback from the coaches, which has helped a lot while I’m still learning. Everyone I’ve trained with has been respectful and easy to work with as well. If you’re new to MMA and a little nervous about starting, I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try. I’m looking forward to continuing to train, improve, and see how far I can go.
