Hearing Aids Now? Why not? I went to Hearing at Home for a hearing test in order to set a baseline. I was sure that I would come away with just that—a baseline for future use. What a surprise, when Micael Coombs, the audiologist said, “You have hearing loss in some of the higher tones. I would recommend hearing aids.” I began to get educated. Our ears are conduits of sound. It is the brain that actually collects the sounds, sorts them, interprets them, and determines what we are going to give our attention to. If the sounds are not traveling through the ear canal as well as they used to, our brains must work harder and can misinterpret what it is hearing. That all made sense to me since having a stroke. I realize how vital the information transmitted by way of the nerves to and from my brain determines whether or not I can move my toes, my ankle, my fingers, etc. The matter the neural path, the better my brain can tell my muscle to move. I really debated in my mind of whether to make such a large monetary investment now was really necessary. But the cognitive aspect of hearing, really clinched my decision. Keep the brain in top working condition by making sure it gets fed all of the tones in our hearing bandwidth just seemed logical. I was amazed when I received my hearing aids. Within 30 minutes, I was hearing myself, as well as my outside world, just like I always did. Were they even working? When I took them out that evening and the nurse came with my meds, her voice was softer. They really had been working at amplifying the sound to normal! But the next day, was the clincher. I realized with the usual background noises, I was not having to work my brain so hard in trying to determine what the exact word was, or interpret around a conversation because I couldn’t make out every word. I had not realized that I was doing that on a regular basis! What is my recommendation? Get a hearing test if you are over 50, even if you think your hearing is normal. A baseline never hurts. Go to a place like Hearing at Home (or they can come to you) where they are trained and experienced in the field. And don’t wait until you and your friends are frustrated because you can’t hear. Give your brain a break! Help it do its work efficiently.

I'm not even being hyperbolic when I say my experience here with Dr. Jill True may have changed my life. I have long suspected that I have had impacted cerumen (layman's: excessive earwax buildup), with years of feeling like my hearing was muffled and a feeling of pressure, among other symptoms. Finally the other night I found Longmont Hearing and Tinnitus Center's website and filled out the form. I got a call back the very next morning and was able to schedule an appointment for the following day (today). This morning I showed up for my appointment and everyone was very friendly. The doctor took me back to a room, explained the process and the tools, then got to work. When the impacted wax came out it was literally like removing a pair of foam earplugs, but as if they had been in there for a decade. I can't speak to their other services but if you have any sort of hearing issues, I can't recommend this place enough! The cost was very reasonable as well and the paperwork was minimal. I was in and out in less than half an hour.

My original experience with Longmont Hearing and Tinnitus Center/Dr. Rudden was almost a decade ago. I felt my hearing loss was beyond what my hearing aids were capable of. Turned out, that wasn't the case then. Now almost a decade later, I went in for re-evaluation and it was decided that not only were my hearing aids not working well for me, but that I am now a qualified candidate for Cochlear Implants in both ears. Dr. Rudden is very skilled, took her time with the evaluation, and I feel, now, I can make an informed decision as to which direction to go for my own hearing loss. If you have been hesitant to take this next step, don't wait. Do it! If nothing else, it's peace of mind.

Dr. Rudden and staff were wonderful. Dr. R was kind, compassionate, patient, and took all of the time needed to fully evaluate my hearing issues. She also helps people in poverty in far away countries, and so she is a hero to me. I highly recommend Longmont Hearing and Tinnitus Center! Cindy B, DVM

I can't recommend another hearing care provider in Longmont or Boulder County because once I went to Longmont Hearing and Tinnitus I didn't need to go anywhere else. I have received great care over the years and if you're willing to get your hearing tested or maybe you're looking for a new and better Audiologist with a great team, then give Longmont Hearing and Tinnitus a chance to show you how good they are. You will not be disappointed.

I found that the service I received on my initial visit to be very professional. I was greeted very warmly and seen by Courtney promptly. She was very personable and friendly. She answered all my questions and thoroughly explained the results of my hearing test. She recommended a set of hearing aids based on my budget and didn't try and push any that I couldn't afford. I highly recommend Hearing At Home for all of your audiology needs! It was truly a very pleasant and enjoyable experience!

The best, most caring people in the business! I always look forward to going to see them. Dr. Rudden is a super audiologist (best in the area), Jill True really knows her stuff, listens and is so super nice. Jessica is the best assistant and Madi is such a gem. They are all so compassionate and make sure you leave the office feeling good about your experience. I know I can call them at anytime with any questions and not feel judged or dismissed. So glad I found them. They are a breath of fresh air!
