My wife Alejandrina had just got off work in downtown Salem, Oregon and was walking to the bus station to go home. After the crosswalk light turned green she was crossing the street on foot when she was run over by a truck running a red light. We were fortunate because it could have been physically so much worse. After tending to her in the emergency room that night, the next day my little brother suggested “Get a lawyer!” During a break on my 12 hour shift (driving semis) I telephoned the Johnston Law Firm, and Mark Johnston personally called me that same day. We arranged to talk in depth that weekend which we did. His team obtained the maximum benefit from the at fault driver’s insurance company $100,000 policy and ultimately even obtained $40,000 from my own insurance company including $15,000 medical coverage for her which I had not even realised was available. She was otherwise medically uninsured at the time of the accident, and that part took care of her medical bills. Mark’s colleague Mr. Rob handled our case while I dealt directly mostly with Mr. Jason. These two gentlemen went the extra distance to milk both insurance companies for every penny possible to obtain for Alejandrina. We very much appreciate them. My wife subsequently qualified for Medicaid, but the Johnston Law Firm’s efforts secured important medical coverage in the gap. My wife later received two large checks from the Johnston Law Firm. With the first she paid off one third of the mortgage on our home. For the second check we were only expecting a fraction of a possible $10,000. Yet Mr. Jason informed me they had successfully argued insurance into billing us for only about $500 of that $10,000. My wife added a very decent cushion to her bank account for emergencies or whatever she wants. They really went after everything they could get for her. It was beyond my expectations.
